WELCOME TO the allison burton photography blog. I'm A timeless, vibrant photographer who loves movement.

It was a lovely fall day when I got to work with Jeremiah for his senior photography session. The weather was perfect, which doesn’t happen much here in Germany, so we took full advantage of it. Jeremiah was such an awesome client to work with. He came ready to go, prepared with his outfit changes and willing to try just about anything I asked him to do. (Side note: mad props to guys who can layer their clothing and change complete outfits in broad daylight with no issues…I’m jealous!)
You see, it’s not as common for me to photograph male seniors, as most guys are more reluctant to agree to someone taking pictures of them for over an hour. Thankfully Jeremiah’s Mom was able to persuade him that a photo session would be fun and something that she really wanted him to do. I have to say, I think we all had a wonderful time together. Jeremiah and his mother chose Ansbach Middle High School grounds for his pictures since that is where he’s spent most of his high school days. I love when locations mean something to my clients, I feel it certainly adds another layer of emotion to every image.
One main goal that I have during every senior session is to capture the student just as they are in their current season of life. Whether that’s a sport, a hobby, an emotion…something that screams “this is me” to them and their parent when they look back on their senior year of high school. For Jeremiah, this is track and JROTC. Spending some time on the track during his session was very enjoyable. Being able to utilize my surroundings to enhance his images was awesome!
Many times, as I’m working with a client, I have that moment of “that’s the shot”. This click was it for me! The intensity, the movement, the strength…amazing.
Per a usual senior session, there is typically a casual outfit of choice. Thankfully, Jeremiah chose something very season appropriate for fall in Germany.
Being a military family, there is always pride whenever our soldiers are in uniform…but it hits differently whenever your child, your “baby”, also decides to wear the same uniform as their Dad. Seeing Jeremiah in uniform, seeing his Mom’s face, then capturing these images made my Mama heart swell up big time. He was so proud to be wearing his father’s patrol cap. (cue the tears)
One last image, because there is a story behind this one. I had this idea in my head, but we could not find something tall enough for Jeremiah to “lean” on. At one point I had him crouched down to fit into a super small space to attempt this shot. It was very “meh”…so we kept trying and finally found this tree! Perfection!
